As a pseudo professional comedian, people stop me constantly and ask, "Can you teach me to be funny?". Today I will attempt to show you how to tell a joke. Other "comedians" would never do such a thing, but I am not other "comedians". Nope.
The Joke: 'A bear walks into a bar. He walks up to the bartender and says," Hello." The bartender says, "Hello bear. What can I get you?" The bear replies, " I, dear sir, will have an ice cream sandwich and . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . a Pepsi." The bartender says, "Why the big pause?" '
Hilarious joke! Right? Did he mean pause or paws! Ha Ha!
Now's the time to take a look at your audience. Are they laughing? No? Take the joke farther . . .
' And then the bear ate him.' Uh oh! Dark humor! The joke has now taken a morbid and hilariously unexpected twist! Is your audience laughing yet? If not - take the joke further down this hole of funny . . . . . '
Then the bear farted." Potty humor! Everyone loves a good poop joke. This joke has it all! To add to the humor you could even do a little "toot" noise or something to ensure riotious laughter.
Want to make them laugh even more? Now do this: Say "Git-R-Done" and then do a little dance. If, in fact, your audience is not doubled over in laughter they are more than likely dead! If so inclined you could now take the time to do some observational humor about the differences between women and men. It is a rich subject to draw material from and the audience will be in the palm of your hand and exalt your originality.;
